What is the Jezebel spirit? Ten ways to recognize the spirit of control and defeat it

One of the strategies the devil uses against us in spiritual warfare is the spirit of control also known as the Jezebel spirit. The Jezebel spirit is a demonic spirit that ultimately seeks to control and rule over people, especially the people of God and the prophetic ministry.

What is the Jezebel spirit?

Jezebel was the wicked and sinful wife of King Ahab of Israel in the Old Testament of the Bible. Jezebel was a Phoenician priestess and the daughter of a Sidonian king named Etbaal. The marriage of Jezebel and King Ahab caused Israel to become saturated with the worship of Baal, Tammuz, Asheroth, and other false gods. Jezebel’s desire was to seduce God’s people and turn their hearts away from serving and worshiping Him. Jezebel was a priestess and she was very religious. Her worship of Baal was an idolatrous religion that included the worship of false gods and idols. She Jezebel caused God’s people to participate in child sacrifices, homosexual sexual acts, orgies, perverted sexual acts, pagan rituals, and immoral priestly services to God. Jezebel controlled Israel, including her husband, King Ahab, whom she also converted to worship Baal. Today we call this same spirit of control that Queen Jezebel used against God’s people as The Spirit of Jezebel. The Jezebel spirit is known as witchcraft which is a work of the flesh and without the Holy Spirit, you will have no dominion over this spirit.

As Christians, we must understand that our real struggle is with our flesh. Our flesh is at constant war against our spirit and without the Holy Spirit in our lives, our flesh will rule and cause us to walk in ways that are contrary to the word of God. When our lives are not subject to Christ and we are not controlled by the Holy Spirit, we are being controlled by our flesh and the ways of the world. Being controlled by our flesh leaves us open and vulnerable to being controlled by the Jezebel spirit, as well as other demonic forces that have open doors. The book of Galatians describes to us the works of the flesh and how we can walk in the Spirit and not satisfy the desires of the flesh. The only way to defeat Jezebel and the spirit of control is for us to be controlled by the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 5:16-21 (NIV)

16 I tell you this: Let the Holy Spirit guide you at every step. Then they will not please their old sinful selves.

17 The things our old self wants to do are against what the Holy Spirit wants. The Holy Spirit does not agree with what our old sinful selves want. These two are against each other. So you can’t do what you want to do.

18 If you allow yourself to be guided by the Holy Spirit, the Law no longer has power over you.

19 The things your old sinful self wants to do are: sexual sins, sinful desires, wild life,

20 Worship of false gods, sorcery, hatred, fights, jealousy, anger, disputes, division into small groups and thinking that other groups are wrong, false teaching,

21 Wanting something someone else has, killing other people, using strong drinks, wild parties and all that stuff. I told you before and I tell you again, that those who do these things will have no place in God’s holy nation.

Ten ways to recognize the character of Jezebel

(1) Use other people to achieve your goal.: The Jezebel spirit is very cunning and will use other people to do their dirty work while they stay in the background pulling all the strings like a puppeteer until their agenda has been fulfilled.

(two) It says links: The Jezebel spirit is very deceitful and charming and will look you in the eye and lie to you very convincingly. Her lies are so believable that she will make you doubt what you know to be true. She uses the seduction of her eyes to do this.

(3) seek revenge: The Jezebel spirit does not like to be wrong in any way and when confronted it will rise up like a snake and try to attack you. As long as you agree with them on everything, you will be safe from his wrath, but if you ever confront this spirit, you will become his worst enemy.

(4) extremely religious: This spirit loves to teach Bible studies and hold prayer meetings in their homes. They love to teach in their own homes so that they are not accountable to anyone for giving false teachings. This spirit looks for new babies in Christ who do not have a real solid foundation in the Word of God and will lead them astray with their clever and elaborate words and sentences. All this is done so that the believer becomes so fascinated by them that they soon become followers of Jezebel and not the Lord.

(5) ignore people: The Jezebel spirit uses this tactic against someone when there has been a fight or disagreement with this spirit. This is normally their way of punishing a person for not agreeing with them.

(6) take credit for everything: The Jezebel spirit wants to be seen as someone who has knowledge about everything. This spirit is quick to take credit for things when they turn out wonderful and is equally quick to not take responsibility when things go wrong. It always has to be correct.

(7) He will not accept blame or responsibility.: According to a Jezebel spirit, she is never wrong. This spirit will never repent or acknowledge that it was responsible for any evil.

(8) volunteers for everything: The Jezebel spirit loves to control everything, so he volunteers to be the leader in anything he can. In this way, everything has to go through them for the project to take off and be successful in their eyes.

(9) operates in confusion: Confusion will always prevent the Jezebel spirit from being detected and exposed. The Jezebel spirit sends confusion into people’s minds to maintain control and power as they continue their agenda.

(10) clairvoyant: Many people who operate under this spirit of control or Jezebel spirit also have a clairvoyant spirit. A clairvoyant spirit is capable of perceiving or knowing things outside of the human senses. Christians have the Holy Spirit to guide them into all truth, but the Jezebel spirit is aided by a familiar spirit that feeds them supernatural knowledge and information.
