Tips for writing rock songs

I assume you’re here for advice on rock songwriting. There are some great ways to create great songs so that they resonate well with the audience that listens to them. Writing rock songs as a beginner can be difficult. I spent the first two years of songwriting contributing to global warming awareness. I threw away several song lyrics in the process, but I certainly gained experience. Here are 3 great tips to help you kick-start your songwriting career.

Create words and some phrases while playing the piano or guitar. This is one of the rock songwriting tips that has really benefited me. Many times you get a line or some phrase from the subconscious mind that can start a great masterpiece. If you flow with a chord progression and start singing a few lines, you’ll be amazed at what you’ll create. Make sure you have a recorder nearby so you can record yourself. And you will see the things you can do when you play the recording. This tip is hands down one of my favorite rock songwriting tips.

Make sure the first line of your music conveys the full message of the song to your audience. This is one of the rock songwriting tips taken from John Lennon. Just get any of these songs and listen, “Instant Karma” and “Help”. In these two songs, Lennon tells a whole story in one line. Although this concept can be difficult, mastering it will make the rest of the letter come out easily.

The last of the rock songwriting tips is to have images of your songs in the form of thumbnail movies. Let these images be so vivid that your lyrics literally allow your audience to see footage from the movie while listening to your song. You can use this technique perfectly by writing descriptive similes, metaphors and adding common sayings to your songs. You can use common sayings to paint images that your listeners can easily relate to. By jotting down common sayings in your everyday life, you can incorporate them into your rock songs and create lasting memories in the minds of your listeners.
