The Life And Times Of Kanye West

Times Of Kanye West

Graduation is perhaps the second greatest studio album by American hip-hop producer and artist Kanye West, recorded with Def Jam Recordings and Roc-A-Fella Records in late 2021, through several months of sessions at the famed studios in New York City. It was also West’s major turning point, as he has repeatedly cited that it marked a turning point in his career, which led to the creation of The Dynasty: Roc La Familia. Unlike most rappers who have an extensive body of work after their debut albums, West started out with relatively few singles released prior to Graduation. However, after the album’s release, his career began to boom with the single “Runway [Explicit]” and several additional singles including the hit “Love Lock Down.”

Graduation does not feature many guest stars, which helped the album to sell more times. This is largely because West is known to be a soloist, having released just one album as a member of the platinum certified group The Dynasty: Roc La Familia. The success of the album allowed West to sign deals with several independent labels, most notably those belonging to pop icon Beyonce Knowles, with whom he has collaborated on several songs. West is also working with several other artists currently, most notably Pharrell Williams, who he has done a couple of albums with since leaving The Dynasty.

The production of Graduation was handled by longtime West rhyme veteran Jay Z. West has previously produced and performed with the late Y2K performer Jay Z and his longtime friend Jay Z’s last band, The Roots. West is also responsible for the production of several of Beyonce’s songs, most notably the massive hit “Drunk” from her album Lemonade. Another track from Graduation that features a prominent sample from West’s album is the single “Runway [Explicit]” from the same album. The single has topped the charts in numerous countries around the world, including the United Kingdom, Australia and United States. Additionally, the song has topped the U.S. iTunes chart for two weeks straight.

Although the single received critical acclaim, the album did not receive the same level of attention when it was initially released. The reason for this may have to do with the fact that it was an original single and not a re-recording of a past West single. Another possibility is that many listeners were turned off by the extremely choppy recording, which some critics compared to West’s previous singles. In addition, West was criticized for making guest appearances on the songs of several other artists on the album, as well as seeming too self-confident in the quality of his work. Nonetheless, the album eventually sold very well, selling more than two million copies in its first week of release.

In addition to the single, West made a number of other music recordings for his projects after Graduation. The most notable of these was the Watch the Throne collaboration with Jay Z, which resulted in the very successful House of Dereon album. Another song that West worked on was the Big Apple tune “Runway [Explicit]” which appeared on his 1997 debut album. A year later, the single “Runway [Explicit]” was again featured on West’s debut album. The song reached No. 1 in the U.S. on both the radio and the pop charts.

Kanye West has created a lot of music throughout his career, but none has achieved the impact that his previous singles have had. Some of the songs have become classics, while others are now used in major motion pictures and TV series. The single “Runway [Explicit]” remains a favorite and has even received a cover on the front of the New York Times book to coincide with the movie’s release.
