How to clear the meridians of the body

The meridians of the body are pathways through which chi or energy moves around the body. While invisible to some, energy sensitive individuals can see these channels as light flowing through the body. Those that run close to the surface of the body are not difficult to feel and again those sensitive to energy can feel the push of energy along these channels.

There are body meridians to deliver energy to each organ. Others perform different functions in the body. The Heart, Small Intestine, Lung and Large Intestine, and Pericardium Meridians are in the Upper Body, along with the Triple Burner. The lower body meridians include the gallbladder, liver, stomach, spleen, kidneys, and bladder. Other Meridians are: Directing, Ruling, Penetrating, Yin Link, Yang Link, Yin Hill, and Yang Heel.

The meridians of the body can become clogged, just like the arteries. Sometimes this appears as acne or skin with freckles and moles. When you feel tired and out of sorts, it may be because the meridians are flowing incorrectly.

Here’s an exercise you can use to help clear the pathways and enjoy a burst of energy.

  • Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor, shoulder-width apart. Make sure your back is straight and your hips are aligned.
  • To focus the energy, contract your diaphragm as you raise your arms above your head and turn your palms toward the ceiling. While breathing through your mouth, slowly lower your arms, placing your hands in front of you until your fingers are almost touching and your palms are facing up. Repeat the breathing exercise 2 more times.
  • Then slowly inhale and clench your hands into fists with your thumbs tucked in, palms still facing up.
  • Breathe out slowly as you push your hands forward while turning your palms down.
  • Take a short breath in while pumping your elbows back. Do this a total of three times.
  • Exhale forcefully as you push your fists forward three times.

Repeat the entire exercise three times.

Then focus on the center of your body, drawing your energy into that space. Hold the position for a count of at least 10. Taking more time to focus your energy is even more beneficial.

The best time to do this exercise is first thing in the morning. If you do this exercise late at night, you may have difficulty falling asleep. Do this simple exercise every day and you will be amazed at how it transforms your health and emotional well-being.
