Can beer make a vaginal infection worse?

Candidiasis or thrush is a fungal infection caused by an overgrowth of Candida albicans. The fungus is a normally occurring microorganism that can survive harmlessly in the human vagina, rectum, digestive tract, and even the mouth. But, due to certain changes in the host’s body, it could proliferate in the vagina and lead to yeast infection. Such a condition leads to various symptoms like severe vaginal itching, burning, irritation and pain in the vaginal area and white matter discharge. The infection can become even more serious if it is not treated on time.

Beer is said to worsen this yeast infection condition. This is so because beer is a drink made by brewing and it is a well known fact that yeast is used in the brewing process. It is true that beer does not contain yeast of the Candida variety, but it helps in the growth of Candida albicans which is the cause behind yeast infection. As already stated, the yeast that causes candidiasis already exists in the human body in small amounts and favorable conditions can only enhance the growth of Candida albicans. This leads to an overgrowth of the fungus and the resulting situation is a yeast infection or yeast infection.

For all these reasons, holistic distributors advise against alcoholic beverages for people infected with Candidiasis. Other than these, beer is an alcoholic drink and has an adverse effect on the intestinal lining just like any other hard drink. This makes the intestinal lining more permeable, which helps Candida albicans easily pass through, thus infecting the digestive system. Also, beer causes great damage to the liver and harms the human body in general. In fact, they also recommend eating other foods that can worsen the infection, including soft drinks, sugar, vinegar, and cheese.

However, dietary change alone is not enough to treat yeast infection. Along with diet modification, medication and home remedies are also required to cure yeast infection. Medications such as Diflucan, Nizoral, and Sporanox can be consumed to clear up the infection. There are also antifungal creams and lotions that can be applied directly to infected areas. Home remedies that can be used include yogurt that can be applied or consumed to prevent the spread of the infection. Garlic is also beneficial in this condition. The infected person’s diet should contain things like yogurt and garlic to combat yeast, as these are natural antifungal and antibacterial substances.

Most of the people drink alcohol as a normal drink without even considering it as a hard drink. The infected person can drink beer without being aware of the complications that can result. Therefore, it is very important that they are aware of the implications of drinking beer and that they limit their consumption of all alcoholic beverages, including beer.
