Women in the golf industry

These days, fewer and fewer people are trying hard to play golf. This trend is causing golf courses across the country to be closed and converted to courses or sold to developers to build apartment complexes or housing communities with the land. I wonder, what is causing this decline for the love of the game? Golf generally only takes about 4 hours or more to play 18 holes, and people use the excuse that they are too busy for that. They have families and jobs where they work overtime (sometimes even on weekends) and say they rarely do business on the golf course anymore. So who will save the game and increase the sport that was once popular? The answer is woman! Women need to get involved in golf so they can spend time with their men and friends and have fun! The golf industry, and society in general, has not yet realized this need. The industry is making it difficult for women to participate in sport rather than trying to capitalize on or encourage the need.

For example, I walked into a pro shop the other day and they only had men’s merchandise: men’s shirts, pants, shoes, and hats. I asked the boy who worked: “Do you have something here for women?” He said “we have women’s gloves.” So at least they knew that women would need a glove to play golf.

Currently, the industry is promoting women in golf by encouraging younger generations to participate. They offer golf day camps, Girls Golf LPGA, and youth leagues for kids to develop a passion for the game, in hopes that they carry it into adulthood. But it just stops there, they don’t extend the sport to young adults and women. They just hope those girls grow up and want to participate. But there is little to no encouragement for women to get involved after the youth camps are over. Maybe they think that the next generation will just create something. Well, as you can see, it hasn’t.

Golf is a great way for people to spend time together, whether it’s with friends and family, or even as a way for strangers to get to know each other. This sport seems to segregate men and women. It has become women playing golf in groups with other women and men playing golf with other men, and it has created division in the sport. For example, when I go on vacation with other couples, the boys want to play golf and the girls want to go shopping or just lie on the beach. As a woman who plays golf, I am torn between spending time with my friends and golf, the game I love. If I play with the boys, they feel like I’m invading their boy time, so it’s not very attractive and I can’t spend time with my friends. There are hardly any incentives or incentives for women to play and they do not feel welcome. There is still time to change this habit and revive this exciting sport, and I believe that women are going to make a difference.
