Water Damage Restoration – WRT Exam

The IICRC (Institute for Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) Water Damage Restoration Technician test. Water Damage Restoration Technician is a designation that a professional restorer needs to demonstrate that they are meeting the most prevalent standards in the restoration industry. It has become increasingly important for a professional who performs water damage restoration services to have the “WRT” designation. Most of the companies that hire you require it and the insurers that hire the companies that provide the service require that their technicians be certified.

Since I first took my class nineteen years ago, the material and the test have evolved a lot. There is much more information. The class used to be a two-day class, but now it’s a three-day class. Five-day classes are also offered that allow you to take the WRT/ASD (Applied Structural Drying) together. The most recent update to WRT was released in April 2006. It is ANSI (American Approved National Standards) approved.

Important points to know about the test:

Get the book from your teacher before coming to class (if possible). Read a few pages every day. Usually the highlighted parts in the manual are extremely important to know and will definitely show up on your test.

Make sure you fully understand psychrometrics.

The test has a total of one hundred and sixty multiple choice questions.

The correct answer is not always the only correct answer, but the best answer.

Currently, responses must be completed on a Scantron sheet using a #2 pencil.

There is no time limit to complete the test.

You need to get 75 percent to pass.

Results can take up to six weeks and will be mailed directly to you.

It is also available in Spanish if you request to take it in Spanish at registration.

The certification you earn is a personal certification and stays with you regardless of who you work for.

The test currently costs $50.

Cash, personal check, business check, and credit cards are accepted. Checks should be made payable to IICRC.

Although I can’t tell you the questions on the exam, I can give you a good example of what you’ll see on the exam. Answering the questions below will also help you determine how well you will perform on the test.

It’s not as easy as you think. If you have taken the carpet cleaning technician exam before or the upholstery cleaning technician exam before, you should know that unless you have a background in biology, you will have to study hard to pass this one.

Since I received a deluge of requests from people who wanted to know the answers to try CCT. I thought I’d add a link on my website with the answers. Visit the Magic Wand Company website below and select the Article tab and then WRT Test Answers.

The purpose of the test is to make sure that a technician learns as much as possible to do their job well. I will be happy to help you in your endeavor to learn. Whether you need carpet cleaning supplies or restoration supplies or not, you are welcome to contact me.
