Visit Cyprus – The island of love!

Have you ever considered visiting Cyprus? Have you ever thought about a visit? Well, maybe, just maybe it’s worth thinking about!

Cyprus is a Mediterranean island, located south of Turkey and north of Egypt. It’s only a 5 hour flight from most major UK airports and flight prices are very reasonable, especially if you’re flying out of school holidays.

The island is steeped in history and has all kinds of stories about the mythical gods. In fact it is called “The Island of Love” as it is said to be the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love.

Once you get here, it’s hard not to fall in love with Cyprus. The people are warm and friendly and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and special. The locals lead a very relaxed way of life and take everything in stride. It’s very much a case of what to do today, what you can do tomorrow my friend.

At the western end of the island is Paphos (Paphos district). Paphos holidays should be a consideration if you are thinking of visiting Cyprus. There is the beautiful beach at Coral Bay, which is a popular tourist hotspot. Then there is the old town of “Kato Paphos” and its vibrant harbor where you can sit back, relax, eat, drink and watch the world go by. There are some great activities in Paphos, including Snake George’s Reptile Park and the ever-popular Water Park.

Moving east along the coast brings you to the Limassol district. Limassol is a vibrant, trendy kind of place, full of bars and restaurants. Its tourist strip is well known throughout the island and is a popular place to visit. For the more discerning visitor, there are Pissouri and Parekklisia, which are quieter and more serene and the ideal place to rent a holiday home directly from the owners.

Passing from Limassol is Larnaca. Larnaca was once the island’s main port city, but it handed over to Limassol a few years ago. Larnaca is also home to the country’s main airport (although there is still a busy airport in Paphos).

The Famagusta district is next and this is where you’ll find the well-known tourist hub of Ayia Napa. Young people flock to this city every year for the party atmosphere. Don’t be put off by this though, Ayia Napa itself has 2 parts: the busy end and the quiet end. You can spend a charming and relaxing vacation in Napa without going to a club. A trip to Nissi Beach is a must during your Ayia Napa vacation.

Also in Famagusta is Protaras. This is a lovely place and well worth a visit. The fantastic Konnos Bay has to be seen to be appreciated, as does Fig Tree Bay.
