Poor quality sleep can mean dark circles, tired and puffy eyes

Even after a night of poor sleep, you may see physical symptoms that show up as dark circles under your eyes, puffiness around your eyes, or sallow, dull skin.

If we want to maintain a healthy and more youthful appearance, it is important that we get regular good quality sleep at the end of a busy and exhausting day. So how can we help each other achieve that?

First start a regular sleep pattern by going to bed and waking up at the same time each day so that your biological clock gets used to sleeping and waking up at regular times of the day.

If sleep does not come easily because you are restless or worried about one thing or another, then it may be helpful to write the problem down on a piece of paper and place it by your bedside, it could help take the pressure off your mind. Make a “to do” list for tomorrow!

During the day get some fresh air and exercise, even if it’s just a brisk walk. If you have time, yoga will exercise your body and also relax your mind.

Avoid heavy meals late at night, try to finish eating at least an hour before bedtime, but if you need a late snack, it should be light, like a yogurt, nothing too heavy that could be difficult to digest. Avoid stimulating drinks such as tea, coffee or cola late at night and without alcohol

Relax in the period leading up to bedtime, take a warm bath. A hot drink with milk might also be of some benefit.

Make sure your bedroom is not overheated and stuffy, allow some ventilation. In the summer months, make sure your curtain liners can block light in the early morning hours.

Use sleeping pills only as a last resort and not without careful consideration, your body may get used to them and soon they will have little effect. Finding one that is stronger will only lead to eventual addiction. Natural quality sleep is much better.

At whatever age or whatever stage of life you’re in, the better your sleep, the better you’ll look and feel, so manage your stress levels, relax more and exercise regularly, and of course, get a good night’s sleep! !
