Physical Obedience Brings Spiritual Advancement

Matthew 26:6-13, “And while Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came up to him having an alabaster jar full of very priceless fragrant oil, and poured it on his head as he sat at the table. table. But when his disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? Because this fragrant oil could have been sold a lot and given to the poor”. But Jesus said to them: “Why do you bother the woman? She has done a good deed for me. You always have the poor with you, but you don’t always have me. Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what this woman has done will also be told, in memory of her.” I want you to notice here that this woman received a tremendous blessing because of her obedience. .

The more we step out in faith and obey God’s word, the more God’s blessings we will see manifest in our own lives. Let me give you an illustration of what I’m talking about: Galatians 5:22-25 talks about the fruit of the spirit, “…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, temperance. Against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. What I just mentioned is within the spirit of every child of God born of new, but the fact that they are there does not mean that they are a reality in our life. This is where physical obedience comes in and produces a spiritual blessing. When we believe that we have God’s love in us, and we release God’s love physically , the more manifestation of God’s love we will see in our own life. It is exactly the same when it comes to joy. When we believe we have joy and the more we release it by rejoicing, we begin to experience that joy.

Hebrews 13:15 says, “Therefore let us continually offer through him a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name.” Notice, it says ‘continually’ to offer the ‘sacrifice’ of praise, not just when everything is going well in our lives, but continually. If we only did it when things were going well then it wouldn’t be a sacrifice. A sacrifice has to cost you something; if it costs you nothing then it is not a sacrifice. This is where physical obedience comes into play again, we may not always feel like praying due to the circumstances around us, but by faith we offer the sacrifice of praise. Joy always sees through the eyes of faith.
