HP Photo Scanners

Today, Hewlett Packard leads the field in manufacturing computer peripherals. Best known for its printers, HP has also sold calculators, PDAs, and photo scanners to offices and individuals around the world. HP’s reputation for high performance, incredible durability, and great value make its lineup the first place to look when looking for a new product on the market.

What do HP photo scanners offer?

Four varieties of HP photo scanners are currently available in stores. These range in price between $99.99 and $499.99. A common feature of all four models is the flat inlet. There is no feed tray, so each page to be scanned must be manually loaded into the scanner. As you would expect, HP photo scanners are compatible with all HP printing accessories such as paper, envelopes, specialty paper such as address labels or thermal transfer paper, and digital photography supplies such as photo paper, slides and movies. Some features that may not come standard on other brands are integral parts of HP scanners, such as photo editing to remove red-eye and adjust color saturation/brightness. All scanners use easily replaceable USB cables to connect to your machine, and all come with a 365- or 90-day limited warranty, depending on model. HP cares about energy efficiency; all HP models are affordable and qualify for an Energy Star rating.

HP Scanjet G3110

The Scanjet G3110 is the best value of all HP photo scanners. For just $100, this scanner scans documents up to 11.7 x 8.5 inches. Scanned documents are processed at a resolution of 4800 x 9600 DPI and the scanner supports 48-bit three-color images. An attractive, compact design makes this model desirable for any home or office.

HP Scanjet G4010 Photo Scanners

Spending $50 more will allow you to take home the most advanced G4010 model. The scan bed is slightly larger than the G3110, albeit with the same flatbed input. Images are scanned at a slightly higher resolution (if that option is selected) and 96-bit, six-color images are supported. The HP Scanjet G3110 is better suited for scanning documents; if you want to scan photos, the G4010 is the way to go.

HP Scanjet G4050

A highly specialized piece of equipment, the Scanjet G4050 incorporates the ability to scan film of all formats. If you still have old film reels that you don’t want to lose, use this tool to convert them to digital format, and give them many more years of life! A striking and attractive black casing makes this model stand out from the crowd.

HP Scanjet 8300

When you need quality without compromise, the HP Scanjet 8300 delivers. Priced higher at around $500, this scanner is large enough to handle documents up to 8.5 by 14 inches and contains a built-in adapter to allow scanning of film, negatives, and slides. If the lower-end models have a flaw, it’s the need to manually feed each new sheet onto the flatbed scanner. However, a 100-sheet automatic document feeder is also available with this model as an optional extra, so you can set the machine to scan a large number of pages and go. A very robust scanner built to withstand high frequency use, this scanner will take up a corresponding amount of space. The ideal solution for a larger office, this HP photo scanner will meet your scanning needs for years to come.
