Health benefit of almonds and almond oil

Almond oil has been used in various health and beauty products or has been used on its own since the ancient civilizations of Greece, China and India. Today, aromatherapists, massage therapists, and estheticians use almond oil for its natural emollient and skin rejuvenating properties. Due to its rich concentration of oleic and linoleic essential fatty acids, it is widely used in aromatherapy. It is also widely used in the cosmetics industry for its moisturizing and restructuring properties. It is also used as a massage oil and valued as a carrier oil when used with essential oil for aromatherapy.

Almond oil and almonds have several properties, such as boosting immunity, fighting inflammation, and neutralizing hepatotoxicity. Research also suggests that it improves intestinal transit, thus helping to reduce irritable bowel syndrome and also reduces the incidence of colon cancer. It has also been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Recent research has shown that adding almonds to the diet raises the level of high-density lipoproteins in the blood and reduces low-density lipoproteins. Chinese history suggests that almond oil was used to treat dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. From history it is known that almonds and almond oil were used by Ayurvedic medical schools to improve the complexion of the skin and to treat skin conditions, thus promoting smooth and healthy skin.

In addition, they used it as a nutritive for the brain and nervous system. Nowadays, all over the Indian subcontinent, many doctors prescribe almonds for those who are involved in school activities like taking exams etc. Along with these massaging properties, it has sclerosing properties that can be used to reduce hypertrophic scarring. It is often used in conjunction with phenol and injected into hemorrhoids. This practice is typically seen in Southeast Asia, but is still used in Europe to date. It is commonly used in otolaryngology for conditions affecting the outer ear, such as otosclerosis, again for its antisclerosing properties.

More recently, Cayce, an American holistic physician, suggests that almonds should be included in the staple diet, as he claims that it improves complexion, the movement of food through the colon, and minimizes the risk of cancer.
