Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 Laptop Review

As you may know, Fujitsu makes really good laptops. It is one of the most successful Japanese laptop manufacturers (Sony and Toshiba are two others). If you compare Fujitsu laptops to other brands in the same price range, you’ll find that the Fujitsu model’s features generally outperform the rest.

In this article, we will take a look at the Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 laptop. This is one of the latest laptops to hit the market and it offers a number of exciting features for the home and business user.

1. General Information

First, let’s take a look at the Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 as a whole. The machine packs an optical drive and a long-lasting battery, all in a 2.8-pound frame. Retailing for $2,000 on the market, the P8100 replaces the previous Fujitsu P7230 model. You get a dual-layer DVD burner, a 12-inch LED screen, and (typically) 5+ hours of battery life. The machine is a great buy and should definitely be one to consider if you’re shopping for an ultraportable.

2. Design

Design-wise, the Fujitsu P8010 has dimensions of 11.2 x 8.4 x 1.4 inches (HWD). It’s contained in a 2.8-pound frame and incorporates a 12-inch screen. The 12-inch screen is arguably a direct response to competing models like the Toshiba Portégé R500 and Panasonic Toughbook W5. Unfortunately, size-wise, it really can’t beat the Apple MacBook Air, which has miraculously turned a 13-inch widescreen into a 3-pound unit.

3. Screen

The screen of the Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 is 15.4 inches and it allows you to watch movies and play games very comfortably. Color reproduction is crisp and sharp, and you won’t have any complaints about image resolution or clarity.

3. Keyboard and other controls

One thing some people may not like is the lack of a full-size keyboard. You get a 91-percent keyboard that’s definitely smaller than the full-size ones on the MacBook Air, Portégé R500, and Toughbook W5. Still, while its typing experience isn’t ideal, the Fujitsu P8010 has nice, quiet mouse buttons and is still a well-designed piece of machinery.

4. Ports and Connections

Talk about connections. The Fujitsu 8010 has a ton of ports and connections. A double layer DVD burner. Three USB ports outnumber the single USB port on the Apple MacBook Air. It has a FireWire port. A fingerprint reader. It has a 4-in-1 card reader. What more could you want?

5. Battery life

The Fujitsu P8010 has incredible battery life. And I mean amazing. Take its low-voltage processor and 63Wh battery, and it will produce over 5 hours of battery life. This is usually unheard of in the world of ultraportables.

6. Deficiencies

There are no big flaws in the Fujitsu P8010, except for the lack of a full-size keyboard and a slim premium price. Performance-wise, with 2GB of RAM, the P8010 can’t beat its competitors like the Sony SZ791N, Dell XPS M1330, and ASUS U6S. However, its performance is still extremely good compared to previous generation laptops.

conclusion

Overall, if you can get over the lack of a full-size keyboard, the Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 is ideal as an ultraportable laptop. If you travel a lot and don’t mind paying a bit more for quality, the Fujitsu P8010 is the perfect laptop for you. Of course, some people might consider competing brands like Apple, Lenovo, and Sony, but in my opinion, the P8010 holds its own against those other brands. So until next time, good luck and happy computing!
