Fixing the bug – "ASN bad tag value met"

For some files on your system that are not digitally signed, ASN1 bad tag value found error message will appear when you install any new software or any critical update for Win XP.

To fix this error, you can follow the steps below, after which you will be able to download the correct critical updates for WinXP etc. and your problem will be solved!

1. Basic Step: Click START -> RUN

2. Type SIGVERIF

3.Click on ADVANCED -> then inside the SEARCH tab

4.Click Browse for other files

5.Then Down Check the checkbox (Include subfolders). Click the browse button. Then in Windows folder -> Select SYSTEM32 ->CatRoot. Then click the OK button. Then click OK again on the SEARCH tab. Then click GET STARTED under File Signature Verification.

6.After scanning, you will get a list of files that have not been digitally signed. Now, without closing this window, create a folder named TEMP on your desktop.

NEXT FOLLOW THE STEPS OF THE THESIS:

1. Go to start->run and type C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32CATROOT

2. Now look through the list of files that are not digitally signed by comparing the files you got in the previous step 6

3. Now select those files from C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32CATROOT and cut and paste them into the created TEMP folder on your desktop

4. SO, “ASN1 Wrong tag value fulfilled” error fixed

5. Now delete the TEMP folder from the desktop.

So now when you try to install any new software or any critical update for XP, you can see the error is removed!
