Common misconception in biblical teachings – Gambling is not a sin

Those who seek the truth will find the truth, those who seek to justify their sinful actions will also find the reason to justify their actions. The truth is spiritually discerned by men who have submitted to the Spirit of Truth, that they may see the Truth; this is not of the human mind but of the Spirit. All who love the truth will see the Truth; all who are covetous in mind will see the lie and believe the lie that is sent to them. Satan is a great deceiver and he still is.

Isaiah 6:9
He said: “Go and tell this people: ” ‘Always listen, but never understand; be always seeing, but never perceiving.’

1 Corinthians 2:13-16 (New International Version)

13This is what we speak, not with words taught by human wisdom, but with words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

14The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that are of the Spirit of God, because for him they are foolishness, and he cannot understand them, because they have to be spiritually discerned.

15The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment:

16 “For who has known the mind of the Lord

to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

What is the main purpose of gambling?

The act of gambling consists of betting money to obtain a higher return. This is a zero sum game, someone loses and someone wins by the mechanism of producing one outcome, heads tails, red black, even odds, and small big. There is a result. But what is the purpose of gambling? Isn’t it for the sole purpose of increasing your monetary returns in a short period of time, not through the provision of a service or a product, but by sheer gambling on a roll of the dice?

I deeply applaud that some Christians who are men of high position and even leaders in their personal careers can say that gambling is not a sin, casual gambling can be fun. It is the same as saying that stealing a little and sinning a little is fun and is not a sin. This shows that men of status in the community are not necessarily men of spiritual understanding. This is not synonymous at all and they should not be allowed to speak for God in their lives. Rich men are not necessarily pious men, we do not know how they get their wealth and we cannot say that they should be blessed by God since; the poor spiritual man is more esteemed in the eyes of our Lord God. What is of great value in the eyes of men is an abomination to our God.

Men who have attained wealth are also not truly knowledgeable about spiritual things. Even pastors tend to make such mistakes about these people. They may attain status and position, but they may be sinners who attend church, profess the faith but choose their own ways instead of God’s ways. My ways are not your ways, says the Lord of Hosts. We must follow the teachings of Christ and the Scriptures; we must not follow the situational logical human thinking of our own imagination. After all, Jesus is the one who will judge us, not our own understanding and presumption.

If you seek the truth you will see it clearly, it is written in the Ten Commandments. But if you insist that the word game must be written, then it is not. Greed is the act of coveting someone else’s property which also includes money. Because I see the game as a sin, therefore, the word of God reads me as the same thing that I meditate in my mind. However, my mind is already washed by the blood of the lamb, so I see the truth. Subject every argument to the obedience of the Spirit of Christ. The word says that we should not covet anything that belongs to our neighbor and that includes his money as well.

Exodus 20:17
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.”

Romans 7:7
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. No, I did not know sin, but by law; because I did not know lust, if the law had not said: You shall not covet

2 Peter 2:3
And out of greed they will make merchandise of you with feigned words: whose judgment is long overdue, and their condemnation does not sleep.

Luke 12:15
And he said to them: Take heed, and beware of all covetousness; because the life of man does not consist in the abundance of the goods that he possesses.

No one’s life will be judged by the abundance of their possessions, no one will be judged by how rich they are in God.

1 Timothy 6:17
He commands the rich of this world not to be haughty, nor put their hope in riches, which are uncertain, but in the living God, who gives us all things in abundance for us to enjoy;

Luke 12:19-23 (New International Version)

19And I will say to myself: “You have many good things in store for many years. Take it easy, eat, drink and have fun.” ‘

20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night they will demand your life. Then who will receive what you have prepared for yourself?’

21 “So it will be with anyone who lays up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”

Do you know what’s inside the pack of 52 cards?

I will present you the evil of playing poker or in any case card games as an example. If some of you still think that this 52 card deck game is an innocent coin to play with, think again. The origin of such cards comes directly from the Tarot Cards, except for the 22 major Arcadia cards, the rest of the 52 minor Arcadia cards are represented in this deck of cards. So when you dwell and play with such things, you are actually practicing divination. And you are guessing your winning hand, thus practicing witchcraft.

Oh, you may think I’m too uptight or even legalistic, but am I? I have dwelled on this witchcraft before and so I tell you from experience, the spirit of greed will enter your heart and corrupt your mind. Why will gypsies use a deck of cards to tell your fortune? It’s because the deck of cards actually hides a Spirit of Divination. The heart is deceitful and constantly seeks evil and nothing good can be found unless it is subject to the obedience of Christ.

And what did God say about people seeking divination?

Leviticus 19:26,

” ‘Do not eat any meat that still has blood on it. ” ‘Do not practice divination or sorcery.’

Deuteronomy 18:14
[ The Prophet ] The nations you will have listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do that.

1 Samuel 15:23
For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.”

2 Kings 17:17
They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire. They practiced divination and sorcery and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger.

If gambling is not a sin, why do constant gamblers get into big trouble and get caught up in this bad habit which is very hard to break? Anything that can cause bondage to the soul has a spirit, and its name is the spirit of divination and covetousness. It makes you freak out about winning the big one and then you don’t have to work anymore. The Bible says that whatever has dominated you, you will be its slave. So when we’re hooked on something and we have to do its bidding, then we’re slaves to that, so there has to be a master and guess what, it’s a demon spirit; because it devours your resources and energy.

Jesus said many times, if you love me do what I say, not what you think is right. How are you able to think what is good and what is bad if you do not submit to the word of God? Jesus also says if you love me practice what I teach you. But many are saying that they are Christians but do not obey and follow all of God’s teachings. They choose what they like and discard what does not suit them. This is the act of Satan and the children of disobedience who ignore God’s words and make light of his teachings.

Many do not fear God, have not known God, much less know what he is like? They are fed by greedy teachers with words like God is good, good, gracious and merciful, even words like you are highly favored, deeply blessed and much loved, as if God no longer punishes or punishes you, and that God is so crazy and longs that you accept it so that it overlooks all your offenses. No more sanctification for the truth, just receive Jesus and all will be well and you will be saved forever; Is this true?

2 Peter 2:3 (New International Version)
3In their greed, these teachers will deceive you with stories they have invented. Their doom has long hung over them, and their destruction does not sleep.

They have not seen the holiness, the justice and the wrath of a God frustrated with his creations who constantly seek to get away from his words and do what they like or prefer. These Christians can even select the Scriptures to say what they want, thus twisting God’s word to their own selfish desires given to obeying the satanic act of disobedience and rebellion. His time to see God’s punishment is near, if God were his true father, he promises to punish all those he calls sons. But if he does not punish or rebuke you, then you are not his child; the bible says if you ever bother to read it, that is?
