Colored hair care

After you bleach or apply your color, the products you use on it are very important. If you love the look you have, you’ll want to take special care of your dyed hair. Any process that involves the use of a developer such as: highlighting, low lighting, or a solid color application is considered “color treated.” Your hair is dyed until it grows out or you cut it off. Some of my clients have processed their hair for years to cover gray and others color only occasionally. No matter how often you color or highlight, remember to pamper your hair.

Always use products that specify that they are for colored hair, these help prevent the color from fading. There are many brands that offer their own line of products for colored hair. Professional salon products are the best, but you can also buy some amazing products at a discount store. Just make sure the label says, safe for colored hair.

Keeping the ends trimmed regularly is also important because color or highlights can really dry them out. When you trim the dry ends, you prevent them from tangling and breaking. This will also make your hairstyle look beautiful and healthy.

The sun and tanning beds can have a lighting effect on hair color or highlights, so you should always try to cover your head when outside if possible. Many professional salon product lines offer a color protectant spray, which applies like a hairspray and acts as a sunscreen for the hair. These products are very effective and worth it, as they protect very well.

The more you color treat your hair, the more chemically treated it becomes. So when you need to redo your roots, only color the hair that needs color, not the whole head. The color can be applied to the rest of your hair in the last five minutes remaining in the color process. If you’ve been getting highlights on highlights and your hair is too blonde, you might consider getting low highlights instead. So lowlights are like highlights, but with a dark blonde or brown. This can really put some definition back into your dull strands and give them a healthier look.
