Choice of the ten best toys for Christmas 2010

If you’re not sure what to buy the kids this year, check out what might be the best Christmas toys for 2010.

It seems to come early every year, but starting in July, most of the respected toy stores, with big household names, start letting everyone know what they think are going to be their clear best sellers for Christmas. Now, you may be tempted to believe that they’re simply preselling what they hope will be their own particular bestseller, but if their opinions are taken into account across the board, some clear winners emerge.

This list is in no particular order, but it does include the top ten Christmas toys as predicted by some of our top retailers.

1. Paper Jamz Guitar and Drums

These musical instruments are bound to be a hit with kids and parents alike. Dads used to “help” put the train together on Christmas Day, now they can be a rock roadie. Just make sure you let the kids try. It comes with headphones, so you can still have a calm and peaceful Christmas.

2. Buzz Lightyear Jetpack

Linked to the popularity of the recent movie, Toy Story 3, these characters are sure to make quite the introduction.

3. Zhu Zhu Hamsters and Kung Zhu Hamsters

These amazing hamsters were the surprise hit last year and are still going strong. Now, this year there is also a range of fighting hamsters available, aimed at the children’s market.

4.Lego

Probably one of the nation’s favorite Christmas toys. It will make an even stronger presentation with some amazing ‘Harry Potter’ related games and buildings coming out before Christmas and the release of some great additions to the excellent ‘City’ range.

5. Sylvanian Families

The Sylvanian family buildings are expected to make a big presence this year with charming dollhouses like the ‘Regency Hotel’ and an adorable new Meerkats family set is also on offer. (Simple!)

6. Zapf Baby Dolls

There are some wonderfully realistic baby dolls from Zapf on the market. Watch out for “Annabel” in particular.

7. VTech Kidizoom Video Camera

Tech toys are having a big presence this year as younger kids get more sophisticated. These handy video cameras are ideal for recording those “Christmas” moments to embarrass family members forever!

8. The girl from the Barbie videos

Somewhat similar, this particular Barbie doll also doubles as a camera. It has an LCD screen on its back and the camera lens is hidden in a collar on its forehead. For more cover shoots.

9. Star Wars

Star Wars toys are always popular and again, there are some great “Lego” related toys and kits out there. However, most people seem to agree that “light sabers” are one of the most desired gifts among children this year.

10. Stinky the garbage truck

A singing and dancing garbage truck is mesmerizing to watch. Made by Matchbox, this trash transformer has a personality of its own. He definitely brings smiles to people’s faces as he goes through his moves.
