Baby Toys – Helping Children Grow Deliciously

A baby is a bundle of joy to us, and to make sure that this bundle is joyful, you need to provide appropriate toys that keep it gurgling with joy and also help in a holistic development of mind and body.

Therefore, choosing the right type of toy for your baby is of the utmost importance. Baby toys are typically made from soft materials and/or virgin plastic to minimize the chance of scratches, rashes, or cuts and abrasions on a baby’s delicate skin. Baby toys are also generally bright, contrasting colors to literally “get baby’s attention.” Many baby toys produce simple sounds when manipulated to get the little owner’s attention. There are also specially made chew toys available to help teething babies.

Before choosing a baby toy, you should always consider the following safety measures to ensure the well-being of your baby:

1. The material of the toy should not cause irritation or injury to the baby.
2. The toy must not have detachable parts that the baby could choke on.
3. The material of the toy must not be carcinogenic.
4. Toys must be washable to ensure good hygiene.
5. Must be a product from an established manufacturer.

Once you have observed the aforementioned precautionary measure, you will need to choose the right toy for your baby based on the age group. A baby up to the age of one year goes through a variety of stages that require a constantly changing plethora of toys to meet her current needs. The following are the different stages that your baby’s first year can be divided into to give her the necessary information about when she needs to buy what kind of toys.

o 0-1 Months: The baby with limited uses of his senses will prefer toys with bright contrasting colors. Rattles and stuffed toys could probably excite them more.

o 1-3 months: A little more mature with motor skills, baby will love toys that can be held and played with. Stretchy, flexible plastic toys or soft toys with movable appendages are appreciated.

o 3-6 months: The baby is already teething, so the world is an exciting place where everything is the order of the day! Plastic or rubber chew toys (not small enough to swallow), colorful stacking blocks, and toys with complex sounds are the best way to “buy” your baby’s attention.

o 6-9 months: Babies usually sit up and try to crawl, so colored balls and mobile toys that encourage the baby to chase them and begin to crawl in the process are the toys to buy.

o 9-12 months: Baby is now on the move and desperately trying to grab things to stand up and explore the surroundings. A four-wheeled walker is the need of the hour. Other than that, small complex shape recognition puzzles and building blocks can also be provided.

So now that you know what to look for, when shopping for the right toy for your baby, you better go and get your bundle of joy a reason to be cooing with joy!
