Why the 9-ton gate was never in Rock Gate Park

One of the biggest myths about the Coral Castle located in Homestead, Florida, south of Miami, Florida, is the origin of its famous 9-ton Gate. This incredible 18,000 pounds of coral is said to be the reason Edward Leedskalnin named the original coral castle in Florida City, Florida “Rock Gate Park.” Actually, this is an easy guess based on the fact that it is one of the most mysterious and enigmatic features of this modern monolithic structure made famous by Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy in his “In Search Of” series in the early 1900’s. 1980s.

The truth of the matter is that the 9 Ton Gate at its current location at Coral Castle in Homestead was quarried directly from the ground there, and not in Florida City. This is easy to understand when you have gone to the Coral Castle and looked at the coral it is made of.

There are actually two types of coral in the Coral Castle. The coral structures that were moved from Florida City to Homestead during the period of 1937 to 1941 were made of very dark, layered oolite coral. The other type of coral is the one most of us are familiar with if we go scuba diving and see the very porous coral made famous by coral reef scenes.

The coral that the 9-ton gate is made of is porous coral that is indigenous only to the Homestead Florida site, not the Florida City site. The darker, more layered coral that “Rock Gate Park” is made of is not what you see after examining this 18,000-pound piece of coral.

I’m not sure why Ed called his initial structure “Rock Gate Park,” but based on the composition of the coral that the 9-ton gate is made of, it’s clear that it was created in Homestead and was never in Florida City.

Regardless of the fact that the 9-ton door is the result of Ed’s work in Homestead, Florida, when you consider the magnitude of his achievement in creating a perfectly balanced, 18,000-pound door with a hole drilled through it piece of coral on the exact center of balance, and that he somehow assembled it himself without modern tools and without anyone seeing him work, it defies common sense and logic to assume that he was using conventional means to move these megalithic pieces of coral .

Upon further consideration, he realizes that not only was Edward Leedskalnin capable of moving large pieces of coral that only modern machinery can move today, but that his engineering prowess was capable of maneuvering these huge objects in such a way. that they were perfectly balanced, one I can only imagine had laser precision tools or was one of the luckiest builders in history.

Since it is illogical to assume that luck was the basis of his amazing abilities, and since any modern team of that size would have been easily noticeable, you have to consider the myths and stories of Ed Leedskalnin regarding what he is like. he said he worked at night and that no one ever saw him work and that he sang to the stones that made them float in place.

Although the idea of levitation is plausible in theory in our modern world, today we still don’t have a means by which we can levitate regular sized objects weighing even 10 or 20 pounds without using some form of modern technology. Yet here was a man who was able to defy modern physics and who claimed to know the secrets of the ancient pyramid builders, leaving behind a structure that no one can make today. How not to believe that he was telling the truth when he has created a structure that has no equal in modern times and has not been physically or mathematically replicated by those with modern abilities who should be able to do it if possible?

Going back to the discussion about the original location of 9 Ton Gate, if it was never in Florida City, why did you call its original site Rock Gate Park? Of all the pieces brought from Florida City, not one resembles a door. We may never know what inspired Ed to name his rock garden “Rock Gate Park.” We do know one thing though: the 9 Ton Gate is both a scientific and technological impossibility having been created in the 1930’s by a man who did not have the modern tools to create a perfectly balanced, carved marvelous structure. It is a mystery that may never be solved and a structure that may never be created again.
