Social media monitoring by schools

As if US citizens weren’t already over-monitored by internet companies, advertisers, phone companies, employers, authorities, cable companies, and oh yeah, those smart meters, it looks like they’re starting with our kids too. . Kids are being introduced to social media surveillance and they don’t seem to understand the problem, which makes sense, and when they grow up they will never live in a period of time where they didn’t know everything they knew.

In 1984 walks, Gatica, Minority Report, and Vannevar Bush’s concept of “recording a life” or life diary (read about Bell Labs and their concept). In the near future, you will not only have to worry about your smartphone spying on you, so will your car, all the devices you own to simplify your life will reveal your every move. Your life is hereby recorded, do you deal with it? Now about our kids, some say they shouldn’t expect privacy, and since they’ve never known it, why should they care? Well that’s it, not only do they not care, they are getting old enough to vote.

Now, there was an interesting privacy topic that caught my attention, yes, another, an article titled; “California school district hires company to monitor student social media,” by Michael Martinez, posted on CNN on September 15, 2013. The school is doing this to prevent bullying, but I imagine in the future will be used to see who posts school hours to see kids doing that, or even who logs in during school hours, from there on, it will be a preconditioned next generation reality that “authorities” have the right to look at their social networks, and they are at all times.

Judging from the movements of law enforcement, the FBI, the NSA, that is already happening, your privacy no longer exists, how does that make you feel? Anyway, just think now in the event that you are innocent but suspect a crime, all that surveillance is proof that you didn’t. But if you have tendencies to misbehave, those social media posts can condemn you, be used against you, or, as I said, in some rare cases they can be used to show that you weren’t there and that you weren’t there.

Some parents say they like the idea of the school controlling their children, why? Well then they haven’t either, which means they are handing over some of their parenting responsibilities to the state (so to speak, really just to school for now), but this is problematic because we already have a problem with parenting. of the children in our country. country. But that of my friends is for another topic and article. Until then, consider all of this and think about it.
