Should we trust any water treatment equipment?

Tap water: the source of all evil! Obviously, I am exaggerating, there is most likely something worse than tap water; we just haven’t found it yet.

The point is that tap water should be avoided and people have only just started to understand this in recent years. Constant reminders from our scientists who have thoroughly investigated water and its contents have helped us understand the properties in more detail.

The fact that everyone was advising everyone that they should do something about their tap water got people nowhere. Most people understand the threat that exists in tap water, but either take the easy way out or buy cheap water treatment equipment, or consider none at all and hope the problem will go away on its own.

A water treatment equipment basically means something that will allow you to strip the water of its harmful compounds, leaving only the healthy part of it: hydrogen peroxide, with a slightly acidic pH, a series of salts and minerals contained in it.

Drinking pure water would be perfect, but even perfect water can’t be too perfect. Yes, it may seem like a paradox, and you would be surprised to discover that there is such a thing as “water too pure”.

However, this is not the issue I am discussing in this particular article – the issue is whether you can trust any whole house water treatment. Obviously not, there will always be someone trying to scam you into buying something expensive that basically does nothing.

This is how the reverse osmosis system gained so much popularity. When considering reverse osmosis as a whole house water treatment, I have to start by saying that it is the worst option available.

Reverse osmosis has a number of design flaws that no one is able to compensate for. As a water treatment equipment, reverse osmosis should be able to remove about 99 percent of harmful contaminants and leave you with pure water that still contains its salts and minerals.

So what does reverse osmosis actually do? Well, it strips the water of some harmful elements, but it also removes the healthy parts: the salt and mineral part.

Reverse osmosis is just one example of a whole house water treatment that should not be relied upon. Some of the very cheap filters should also be avoided no matter how many things they promise on the box.

Remember that in order to find the best water treatment equipment for your needs, you will need to find out what your needs are. This means testing your water in some way and finding out which type of filter is best suited to your needs.

All is not lost however, there are a plethora of options available, this article is simply trying to point out that not all of them are as good as they say and as such you should heed any advice before investing.
