Safe Lice Treatments – Find Out What Smart Parents Are Using!

When head lice are out there, no matter how hard you try to protect your child from getting them, chances are they will get infected. As much as we would like to avoid them as much as possible, we need to stay one step ahead and focus on available lice treatments.

A done deal.

For as long as I can remember, the standard way to deal with lice and nits was to run to our local pharmacy and buy a large bottle of nit shampoo. Lather my son’s hair well and comb it well and that should be it!

But as Bob Dylan once sang, “The times they are a-changin'” and they certainly are. Lice are getting used to these chemicals that we have been using for years to destroy them and these sneaky little pests are starting to become immune to them.

Lice aren’t the only ones taking notice of what we’ve been wearing. Savvy parents are beginning to realize what they are putting on the skin and hair of their loved ones. These shampoos and creams are made from a chemical base and how long and how short is it; we are putting pesticide on our children’s heads!

Matter of concern.

If you’re like me, you’re probably very concerned about all of this. These products have the potential to be dangerous to your health, and we don’t know what long-term effects they might be hiding. We can all read what they are made of on the label, but do we really know what they contain?

For longer than I can remember, I have used these lice shampoos thinking I had no other choice. But after long and tedious hours of research, I finally managed to find some serious alternatives. The magic of these alternative treatments is that they were all completely natural products and many of which can be found sitting in your kitchen cabinet or in your garden.

Re crazy?

These are safe, natural, non-toxic head lice treatments made with everyday ingredients that anyone can use. Products like peanut butter, mayonnaise, and olive oil. I know it may sound crazy, but these things are absolutely great at killing lice.

Nits, which are the eggs laid by adult lice, are very difficult to remove from hair. They stick to the shaft with some kind of natural cement and don’t really want to move. Simply heat up some white vinegar and massage it into your hair. After a short period of time, the acidity of the vinegar dissolves the sticky cement helping to keep the nits attached to the hair and they can be easily combed out with a lice comb.

When your child comes home with a good family of lice, it can be a nightmare to deal with. But an even bigger nightmare is worrying about what exactly you’re shampooing into your hair to try to remove. Having come this far by reading my article, you are now well aware of the potential dangers and possible long-term side effects that could come from using a chemical. You also know that there are some safe substitute lice treatments sitting in your closets at home waiting to be put to work.
