Is it possible for someone’s life to change music? Kurt Donald Cobain was the leader of one of the most important bands in Grunge, Nirvana. He was born on February 20, 1967 in a small town near Seattle. He lived with his mother, a cocktail waitress, and his father, a mechanic. Later, he moved to a depressing logging town. Cobain was considered for most of his childhood to be a sickly child with bronchitis. The situation worsened when his parents divorced when he was seven years old. He said that he would never feel love and safety again.

Cobain began to change over time, life became more difficult for him. He became more antisocial, but continued to pursue his dream of having a band and being successful. He formed a number of bands before Nirvana was born in 1986. Nirvana was a very simple alliance between Cobain, Krist Novoselic, the bass player, and Dave Grohl. In 1988, Nirvana started doing shows and completed their demos. In 1989 they recorded their first album, Bleach, considered one of the best grunge hits of the time.

Cobain was drawn to heroin in the early ’90s; he said he used it as a shield against the rigorous demands of touring and to stop the pain of stomach ulcers. In August, Cobain received hospital treatment for heroin abuse. Soon after, Bean Cobain was born. Again on March 4, he was rushed to a hospital in a coma after a failed suicide when he took around fifty painkillers with champagne.

Cobain was a gun fanatic and always had several in his possession. A few days later, on April 5, he barricaded himself in Grandma’s apartment behind his mansion, put a shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. Cobain’s body was found when an electrician visiting the house to install a security system came around the back of the house. He thought he saw a mannequin on the ground until he noticed a bloodstain next to Cobain’s ear. When police broke down the door, they found Cobain dead on the floor, a shotgun still pointed at his chin, and nearby a suicide note written in red ink addressed to his wife and his daughter Frances Bean. He became not only for me but for the whole world one of the best singers and leader of a new genre, grunge.
