electric insect exterminators

There is no doubt that bugs, small as they may be, can really cause a lot of annoyance and discomfort. Depending on your situation, there may be more or less need to control flies, wasps, or any number of a million other insects.

Electric bug zappers have been around for many years in commercial and agricultural settings, and are now available to the average homeowner as well.

The way electric bug zappers work is that they use a light that attracts bugs, as many bugs are attracted to light. Then, as the bug approaches the light, it lands on the metal strips near the light. By landing on 2 of these closely spaced metal strips, the bug completes the electrical circuit and 120 volts pass through the bug and that’s the end of that bug.

Electric bug zappers are a very effective way to kill many bugs cheaply and without chemicals.

Many years ago, my introduction to this type of insect control was on the dairy farm I grew up on. Since we were producing a food product, the concern about the use of chemicals was very real. When these commercial electric fly swatters came out, we got one right away and put it in the barn near the dairy. It was amazing how many flies were attracted to it and died every night. It was easy to see the effectiveness as there were literally loads of flies on the concrete floor every morning when we started the milking process.

This is what convinced me of its effectiveness to this day.

However, now a person does not need to get one of these ugly business units. If you want one for your home, you can get many models that are made for that purpose and are made with some decorative appeal, if such a thing can be said for an insecticide.

We now live relatively close to a feedlot, about a quarter of a mile away. In summer flies are a problem. We are using an electric bug zapper outside to kill flies and we are sure it helps. Inside we are using a similar product that attracts flies and then when they land on the sticky strip they get trapped. You have probably seen these units hanging on the walls of some restaurants, and they are quite effective, without the disadvantages that a zapper could have inside your house.

All in all, electric bug zappers and related gadgets are available for just about any application one may have. When you do a little research, we’re sure you’ll be able to find the tool that will do exactly what you’re looking for.
