Do you need to lose weight fast? Short or long term plan

One thing most people want is to lose weight quickly, and there’s nothing wrong with that if you can do it safely. Theoretically, it is possible to lose up to 20 pounds in a week with the right diet and exercise. Most people cannot fully dedicate themselves to their weight loss program and workouts for 7 hours each day, which is necessary for that type of plan.

A big change in diet and exercise can be very taxing on the system, and any program designed to lose weight quickly should be closely supervised by a doctor. A more realistic weight loss goal of 3 to 5 pounds per week will still require a great deal of weight training and sensible dieting, but it is much more manageable for the person who has a fulfilling career and personal life.

As I always emphasize, motivation is the support system you need to lose weight quickly, and if there is a special event in your life that justifies losing weight, it can be a temporary motivator. A wedding or a class reunion can be the trigger that kicks off your weight loss quest, but there are two important factors to consider when starting your weight loss journey.

Time to complete the task

If the event you want to look good for is months away, that gives you time to shed some fat and weight in a healthy way. If your time frame is only a week or two before an event, you can’t expect a drastic reduction. Attempting to do so will only result in loss of confidence and depression.

Adopt other forms of motivation

If you want to lose weight fast for a one-time event, you’ll be back in your old clothes after the event is over. You should want to look good for certain occasions in your life, but that won’t keep you motivated to maintain the perfect size and weight you want to achieve and maintain.

If the only reason you want to look good is to impress a few people at one event, that’s not the best motivational insight into weight management. A much broader goal would be one where you want to look good every day, not just for an event. Your weight loss goal should be realistic and achievable, but significant enough to be rewarding when you achieve it.

The choice is yours. Either you develop a lifestyle to get healthier, feel better, and look lean and fit on a regular basis, or you can go the fad diet route and lose a few pounds or inches, only to gain them back.

Keep in mind, too, that living a healthy lifestyle with a regular exercise program and proper diet offers many rewards; you will feel better, live longer and look better; Not worth it?
