Celebrity Solstice Cruise Review – Celebrity Cruises Review

Celebrity Cruises Solstice is a 122,000 ton, 2,850 passenger cruise ship that entered service in November 2008. It was the first in a series of 5 Solstice-class cruises, including the Solstice, Equinox, Eclipse, Silhouette and Reflection. From the moment I got on the Solstice, I knew this was different. The Solstice had soothing and calming color palettes, with rich dark wood paneling and earth tone walls. The spa, lawn club, hot glass show, service, and the boat itself were amazing. The Solstice was elegant but understated; I found it luxurious.

The cabins were very comfortable and zen-like, and I felt like I was in a spa. I had the pleasure of staying in a balcony stateroom, with a supple white leather sofa that doubled as a bed, and the bedding was beautiful and extremely comfortable. The shower had a shaving bar … a feature I found very useful when shaving my legs.

The pool area was unlike anything I have ever seen. There were dancing waters … and comfortable armchairs. I especially loved the cabanas around the pool.

Dining aboard the Solstice was spectacular. The food was delicious. The dinner selection in the Grand Epernay Dining Room each evening was fantastic and decadent. The Oceanview Cafe offers a casual buffet. There is also a fabulous selection of specialty restaurants, including Murano, which serves French cuisine, a steakhouse for meat lovers … Tuscan Grille, Silk Harvest, which serves Asian cuisine, and Blu Restaurant, which serves healthy dishes. for all AquaClass guests. Specialty restaurants have a surcharge, but it’s worth trying something different or for special occasions.

The Solstice is calming, relaxing and elegant, but not suffocating. Celebrity has a line of luxury boats in the Solstice class … and they have done an outstanding job. It exceeded my expectations of what a boat should be … I was impressed.

Customers looking for more than a festive ship atmosphere, food and wine lovers, or those looking for a luxury ship cruise without luxury prices will enjoy the Celebrity Solstice.

The Solstice sails through the Caribbean in winter and the Mediterranean in summer.
